Early Childhood Education Program of Study

Teaching and Learning with Quality and Joy

Welcome to the White Mountains Community College Early Childhood Program where we combine teacher education and quality child care. Early Childhood Education students are offered many opportunities for hands-on learning experiences with up to 300 hours of practicum as part of the Early Childhood Associate Degree program. Students work in a state-of-the-art child care facility that is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Our on-site Child Development Labs include programs for infant, toddlers, and preschool age children. Physically, our child development labs provide a cozy welcoming environment that delights the senses of the young and not-so-young. Attention is paid to aesthetics, especially the use of natural materials both indoors and out. Students are trained alongside credentialed teachers in a teaching and learning environment that is both comfortable and challenging. The field of early childhood education is growing rapidly with job opportunities in many different areas. Alumni are operating their own centers, teaching in private preschools, and working in Best Bet, Berlin's new after-school program.
