What will I learn in Mobile Equipment Technology?
You will learn how to diagnose, service, and repair diesel-powered trucks and equipment, on-highway or off-highway. More than half your time is learning through hands-on experience in the shop or lab, where you work on industrial equipment with industrial tools.You develop the skills wanted and needed for a high-tech job in a high-tech field.
What are my options?
You can concentrate on one of four options: on-highway heavy truck, off-highway construction equipment, parts and service management, or a certificate program. Each option offers a rewarding career. Can I get experience in the field before I graduate?
Students get real life experience in the industry through the summer co-op. Industry sponsorship gives students the opportunity to work with an employer, gaining valuable, real life experience. These paid co-ops let students earn while they learn. Many co-op experiences turn into an offer of a full-time job.
What are my job prospects after graduation?
There is a great demand for well-trained technicians.The industry is hiring people who understand diesel engines, hydraulics, brakes,transmissions, and related systems.In most cases, graduates earn up to $30, 000 a year to start. With experience, technicians earn between $40,000 to $60,000 a year.
